a friend of mine once said, when asked about freedom: chains that are sufficiently long are equivalent to freedom.

I never knew what to make of that, as I always thought that a lover of freedom (as my friend is) would defend the existence of absolute freedom.

later on, when I thought about it, I came to the conclusion that what he meant was that as long as we are allowed to dream (and no one can take that away!) we can consider ourselves free. I might be wrong, of course
